Apple Just Cut Dozens of Sales Jobs — And No One Saw It Coming

Apple — the company famous for never doing layoffs — just quietly cut dozens of jobs across its sales organization.

Yep, even the world’s richest tech giant isn’t untouchable.

According to multiple reports, Apple notified affected employees over the last couple of weeks.

The cuts hit several teams hard, including:

  • Account managers handling big corporate, education, and government clients
  • Staff running Apple’s high-end briefing centers
  • Teams who support major product demos for potential large buyers

Apple says the move is part of a “streamlined sales structure” and notes employees can apply for other roles internally.

They have until January 20 to find a new position before being officially let go — with severance.

What makes this surprising?

Apple is having one of its strongest revenue years in a long time.

Sales for the holiday quarter are expected to hit nearly $140 billion, which would be a record.

So… why cut jobs now?

Some workers say Apple is shifting more of its sales to third-party resellers — a move that helps Apple reduce internal costs (like salaries) and lean on outside partners who already handle big institutional clients.

This isn’t the first cut, either. A few weeks ago, Apple eliminated about 20 sales roles in Australia and New Zealand.

And while all of this is happening, Apple is still planning to release a new low-cost laptop early next year aimed at students and businesses — the exact market these sales teams supported.

It’s a reminder that even in booming companies, job security isn’t guaranteed.

And in 2025? “Stable” jobs are starting to feel like unicorns.
